Asian Meeting Sessions #1
Asian Meeting Sessions is a newly minted initiative of the Asian Music Network and Asian Meeting Festival. Its main objective is to foster stronger musical collaborations between musicians across Asia with small satellite sessions in different Asian cities. It also hopes to forge a more fruitful relationship between organisers, communities and cultural organisations within Asia, hence reinforcing a more diverse and vibrant musical environment for both musicians and listeners. Asian Meeting Sessions is the framework comprising small experimental music meetings serving as foundation towards the objective of the Asian Music Network and the Asian Meeting Festival. In the first instalment of this series, Asian Meeting Sessions kicks off in Singapore. It will connect 2 Japanese musicians who have been working with experimental music for decades in Japan and internationally - Toshimaru Nakamura and Yoshimitsu Ichiraku (Dora Video), with musicians from the South East Asian region - Duto Hardono (Indonesia), Yong Yandsen (Malaysia), Dharma Shan (Singapore) and Yuen Chee Wai (Singapore).
Asian Music Network is part of Ensembles Asia, with Otomo Yoshihide as Artistic Director. The network organises Asian Meeting Festival which dj sniff and Yuen Chee Wai are co-curators.
